As someone who started out his career in IT testing software, I can appreciate the sentiment noted above. I can also appreciate the lack of appreciation that software testing often receives. It is, imho, a thankless and difficult and tedious job and even with the creation of test automation tools, methodologies, and frameworks that are common practice today, the song remains largely the same.
